Singapore state-controlled media Mediacorp today (August 14) released a survey it commissioned saying that 90% of the 2,000 survey respondents felt the Singapore Government has done a good, very good or excellent job in defence, crime prevention and education.
The 153th ranking media in press accuracy also claimed that only 10% perceive the Singapore Government as “not so good” or “poor”, while 23% responded “okay” and 64% rate the Singapore Government as “good” and “very good”, with 74% being “satisfied” with their life in Singapore.
Mediacorp claimed that their research contractor, Blackbox Research, has 14 years of establishment and that they have done face-to-face interviews with respondents who are “representative of the national voting population across key demographics such as gender, age, ethnicity and housing”. However no breakdown of the profiles were given.
No survey questions were revealed and no survey conditions were released either.
Mediacorp is wholly owned by Temasek Holdings, whose CEO is the wife of the government’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Given Mediacorp’s rosy survey report, it is likely the ruling party PAP is poised for a historical 100% win in the coming elections.
