According to the latest health survey conducted by insurance company Cigna, 90% of the more than 1,000 survey respondents said they are “not content” with their current financial situation. 70% said they do not have enough time to spend with their family.
More than 75% also said they have not enough money to take care of their parents. Singapore ranks a bottom-scrapping 10th out of 13 countries when it comes to well-being and health.
The survey result comes as no surprise as the Ministry of Manpower just published an employment statistic proving that Singaporeans work the longest hours in the world. Singaporeans also have one of the lowest purchasing power in the world as take-home salaries are heavily reduced by a 33% CPF tax.
The 2017 survey also found that 41% of the respondents delay going to a doctor or dentist when they are ill due to money shortage.
Singapore ranks the most expensive city in the world consecutively for 4 years and the retirees are mostly poverty-stricken, with many working low paying manual jobs like cleaners and security guards.
