After failing to defend himself over mounting evidence of corruptions and abuse of power, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong resorted to more Korean drama tactic crying in Parliament in hope for public sympathy.
In his speech at Parliament today (July 4), PM Lee praised himself for lifting the Party Whip and “clear the air”. PM Lee then recounted his childhood times when he was 13, his father Lee Kuan Yew told him to take care of the family:
“If anything happens to me, please take care of your mother, and your younger sister and brother. I hoped one day, these passions will subside and they can begin to reconcile.”
In the meantime, other PAP MPs continue to defend the corrupted Prime Minister and speak up for him.
PAP MP Lim Biow Chuan defended PM Lee Hsien Loong saying that nobody wants to sue their own family members:
“For the MPs that called for PM Lee Hsien Loong to sue his sibling, I felt a sense of dismay. How many of us would want to sue our family members? Is not blood thicker than water?”
Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat also defended PM Lee:
“Was there an abuse of power? My opinion is no.”
Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong attacked PM Lee’s siblings:
“Lee siblings’ goal is to bring Lee Hsien Loong down as PM. It is clear that their goal is to bring Lee Hsien Loong down as PM, regardless of the huge collateral damage suffered by the Government and Singaporeans…I reaffirm my full confidence in the integrity of the Prime Minister.”
ESM Goh Chok Tong also attacked Opposition MP Png Eng Huat for spreading rumor when the latter quoted Lee Wei Ling:
“Anyone can simply read. That is akin to spreading rumour.”
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean defended PM Lee and the government lying that:
“We have strict rules on avoiding conflict of interest, and they are scrupulously maintained.”
DPM Teo Chee Hean also attacked the younger Lee siblings:
“So, in going through the facts and chronology, are Dr Lee Wei Ling and Mr Lee Hsien Yang being truthful about their claims and allegations about the committee?”
