A truce between the loggerhead Lee family members supposedly started less than two weeks ago on July 5th, has now come to an end with Lee Hsien Loong breaching the agreement by backstabbing Lee Hsien Yang while the latter is overseas.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has called for his ex-personal lawyer Lucien Wong, the current Attorney General, to take legal actions against his nephew Li Shengwu for allegedly “criticising the court system in Singapore”. Under Lee Hsien Loong’s dictatorship, the Singapore judiciary cannot be criticised and critics face lengthy jail term for “slander” or “contempt”.
The offending line that Li Shengwu wrote:
“Keep in mind, of course, that the Singapore Government is very litigious and has a pliant court system. This constrains what the international media can usually report.”
However the Facebook post was made private and shared only among Li Shengwu’s friends. The AGC disregards the privacy of the post and today (July 17) announced intimidatingly that they are “looking into the matter”.
Lee Wei Ling posted a press release revealing that she and her brother Lee Hsien Yang’s family are now under government surveillance:
“I am surprised that AGC takes such negative reaction to a private post. Is there a government servant whose duty is to follow the Facebook activity of all people related to Hsien Yang and I, including our private musings. Also, what Shengwu posted is a common topic amongst Singaporeans who are well informed. Is this not an example of ” big Brother government”. Perhaps it is a case of “if the hat fits, take it.””
Li Shengwu’s father Lee Hsien Yang is also aware of the Attorney General’s threat but has yet to make a response. Lee Hsien Yang and his wife are currently in Hongkong and has not made plans to return to Singapore, worrying that his brother Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will take legal actions against him and his wife whom the dictator accused of faking their father’s will.
