According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), 5 living in the Serangoon North precinct have been infected with the Zika virus. There have been three “clusters” identified by the authorities and all were infected within a month:
1) Serangoon North Ave 1, Blk 125, 126 and 127
2) Serangoon North Ave 1, Blk 109, 115, 116 and 117
3) Serangoon North Ave 1, Blk 143 and Serangoon ville
Earlier in June, Reuters reported that there was 8 new cases, this brings a total of 13 new cases so far for 2017.
The Zika virus may cause death and is especially dangerous for pregnant women, who when infected, their babies may see birth defects in the brain.
There is no response from Health Minister Gan Kim Yong.
