Following dictator Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s irrelevant mention of a “war on diabetes”, the Ministry of Health (MOH) today (Nov 21) said they will be gathering 75 “volunteers” and set up a fake grassroot initiative called the “Citizens’ Jury”. The Singapore dictatorship claimed that they are emulating what other citizens in first world countries do to pressure their governments.

“A total of 75 people from different walks of life form this panel, and their task is to come up with ideas on preventing and managing diabetes here. The Citizens’ Jury is the first health-related public engagement initiative that is done in this manner in Singapore. It is modelled after similar initiatives in countries such as New Zealand and Australia, where citizens come together to deliberate and propose recommendations for the Government to study and, if feasible, implement them.”

The fake “Citizens’ Jury” will likely propose a sugar tax, as earlier suggested by Lee Hsien Loong. While Citizens’ Jury in other countries pressure their governments on political causes, the MOH deliberately picked the topic of diabetes to please the dictator PM.

Most Singaporeans find the topic of diabetes low on priority because of more pressing issues facing Singapore like the inadequacy of CPF and worsening state of public transport. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong picked the “diabetes” theme during his National Day Rally speech this year, to divert attention from his Oxley Road saga, racist Presidential walkover saga, SMRT fiasco, the deterioration of diplomacy with China and the losses of tens of billions in national reserves and CPF funds from GIC.
