The Land Transport Authority (LTA) yesterday (Mar 2) announced that all East-West Line stations will close 1 hour earlier at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and also open 2½ hours later at 8am on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be no free buses and shuttle bus services between stations will cost the same price as the train fare structure.
The Singapore government said that they needed the operating hours to be shortened to allow for more maintenance time. Since January, train delays have been increased, train speed were lowered and opening hours were shortened. There is however no reduction in fare prices despite the poorer service standards.
