PAP candidate for Hong Kah North SMC Amy Khor in her election rally last night (Sep 8) openly declared that she is against Singaporean-first employment policies because businesses will relocate and jobs will be destroyed:
“However we must remember that employers are also stakeholders in this country, especially our SMEs bosses. And many of whom are Singaporeans. If the law is tightened, such that many companies of our own Singapore SMEs find Singapore too limiting. They will relocate, destroying the very jobs that Mr Ravi’s ill-conceived suggestion is meant so save. SPP’s suggestions are populist and they may give you relieve for the moment, but you get a bigger headache the next day.”
The Malaysian-born former MP, Amy Khor, was a proponent of the ruling party’s 6.9 million population White Paper and has previously suggested Singaporeans who are born and bred in Singapore may not necessary have the same allegiance to Singapore as new citizens and that these Singaporeans could pack up and leave like any new citizens.
