A 54-year-old Singaporean has been infected on public transport in his daily commute from Sengkang’s Fernvale to his workplace at Sentosa casino, Resort World Sentosa.
The Singaporean first exhibited symptoms on Jan 30, and he visited a GP clinic on the same day only to be discharged as “healthy” by the government guidelines. His conditions worsened and he visited the GP clinic again on Feb 5, again, turned away and told to rest at home. The Singaporean went to another GP clinic the next day on Feb 6, which again refused to diagnose him as a suspect case.
Giving up on Singapore GP doctors, the Singaporean admitted himself into Sengkang General Hospital’s Emergency Department, which the government hospital finally isolated him on Feb 7 and confirmed he contracted the virus.
Distrust on Singapore doctors is now at a high with private clinics turning away confirmed cases and the government refusing to send an ambulance.
There are 3 more new cases today, bringing a total of 43. 6 are critically ill in intensive-care unit requiring oxygen support. The other two cases is a 71-year-old Singaporean and a 39-year-old Bangladesh.
The infected Singaporean went to the Paya Lebar Methodist Church, attended PAP Braddell Heights RC meetings and picked up his grandchild at Pat’s School House Kovan.
The infected Bangladesh went to work, stayed in his dormitory The Leo in Kakit Bukit and hanged around at Mustafa Centre in Little India.
There are also more locally-transmitted cases than import cases, at 22 against 21.
The government identified 892 contacts, and 47 close contacts are uncontactable. The Health Ministry still advises Singaporeans not to wear a mask in public, and at the same time denying there is a face mask shortage.
