14,000 foreign workers risk infection after new dormitory cluster

A dormitory housing 14,000 foreign workers could be infected after the health ministry found 4 confirmed cases in initial testing. Three India and one Bangladesh nationals were infected from unknown sources in Singapore, where local transmission has gone out of control.

Situated at 2 Seletar North Link, PPT Lodge 1B, the dormitory has 13 buildings of four-level. Its management S11, was previously flagged in 2019 when a measles infection went viral in another dormitory at Punggol.

According to S11, only the affected floor and common areas are closed for cleaning. An unknown number of foreign workers who live in the same room with the infected are also undergoing testing.

Singapore yesterday reported a total of 35 confirmed cases, bringing the total to 879. Among the infected, 14 are from unknown sources. Two more clusters were reported, one at hotel Wilby Residences at 25 Wilby Road and the other at the bar Hero’s at 69 Circular Road.
