Singapore measures useless, confirmed cases surge to 106

After sending the country into a lockdown, the coronavirus continue to spread in Singapore community with 106 cases newly reported. Unlinked cases jumped to 49, the highest in record.

3 elderly women aged between 88 to 97 have also been confirmed infected and they are all in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A total of 29 are in ICU wards and there has been 6 deaths so far.

There is a total of 1,481 confirmed cases in Singapore, fourteen folds since a month ago.

39 of the new cases are linked to foreign worker dormitories. The S11 dormitory in Punggol is the largest cluster with 98 cases. 20,000 foreign workers are now being isolated in their dormitory, which the workers have been complaining about overcrowding and filthy.

Manpower Minister Josephine Teo however blamed the dirty living conditions to employers not willing to fork out more money on cleaning. The PAP millionaire minister promised she will clean up the dormitories after the virus outbreak is over.
