Due to daily increases of new cases, Singapore’s quarantine facilities are severely overcrowded now. In a leaked video from one of the patients at Changi Exhibition Centre, there is no social distancing and many are seen not wearing a mask:
The Singapore Health Ministry blamed the managing agent of the facility, Mandarin Oriental Singapore. The hotel claimed that the video was taken on May 10, instead of May 17 when it first surfaced on Facebook.
The Singapore hotel claimed that there is no issue of reinfection for those recovered:
“We can understand the concern that some have expressed about the occupants coming into close proximity with each other. As they are all COVID-19 positive, they do not pose risks to one another.”
The Ministry of Health is unavailable for comment, and instead directed the media to the hotel for response.
