Singapore Government unfazed at coronavirus breaking 30,000 cases

Singapore just broke 30,000 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, but the ruling party dictatorship is unfazed at the massive failure handling of the virus outbreak.

The Ministry of Health reported 614 new cases on Friday (May 22), with a total of 30,426 confirmed cases.

According to the government, the “vast majority” of the infection are foreign workers living in dormitories. This number is of no concern to the authorities, who has instead directed attention on so-called community cases. No average weekly figures were given on the total infection, unlike community cases:

“The number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of five cases per day in the week before, to an average of seven per day in the past week.”

The longest-running dictatorship in Asia gave a new excuse for the increased in cases, saying that more testing has been done:

“This is partly due to our active surveillance and screening of nursing home residents and pre-school staff, which have picked up more cases in the past week.”

The Singapore government however refused to reveal the number of tests done each day.

With new cases still at a dangerous high and insufficient testing done on the population, the government went against epidemiology advice to exit circuit breaker measures from June 1.

The Singapore government also announced the opening of the airport from June 2. Transit passengers will be allowed, but no foreign arrivals can enter the country. This is largely because none of the countries Singapore negotiated with are willing to agree with the government’s warped claims on “situation under control”.
