When questioned over the date of reopening the borders with Malaysia, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan panicked and said he does not know:

“We have to work out those protocols and to make sure those protocols are effective on both sides of the Causeway… So just give us a few, I would say… days to weeks.”

The PAP minister has been talking with Malaysia for more than three months since Malaysia closed the border on March 18.

There has been zero progress, but Singapore’s 158th ranking state media has been publishing fake news about reopening the border since March.

Minister Vivian Balakrishnan also talked about a “travel bubble” with countries like Australia and New Zealand in end May. Nothing came out from the discussion after a month.

Singapore is still reporting hundreds of new cases each day, but Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong claimed that the situation is “under control”. He described the infection rate in the hundreds as “stable”.

The Singapore government ranks among the worst in the world on the handling of the coronavirus outbreak, according to a WHO epidemiologist ranking government responses based on infection outcomes.
