Spoiler opposition party Reform Party’s leader Kenneth Jeyaretnam told the Ministry of Health that the 14 days’ isolation rule should not apply to him.

His application to waive the stay-home notice was swiftly rejected by the health ministry:

“For public health reasons, MOH is unable to accede to the request. Mr Jeyaretnam is therefore required to complete a 14-day stay-home notice at a designated stay-home-notice facility, and undertake a COVID-19 test before the end of his stay-home notice, similar to all other Singaporeans returning from the United Kingdom.”

Kenneth Jeyaretnam did not explain why he went to the UK, but he has disappeared from Singapore after his failed election contest in 2015. The Reform Party has never won a single seat since 2011.

In this election, the Reform Party “reserved” the constituencies of Ang Mo Kio GRC, Yio Chu Kang SMC and Radis Mas SMC, threatening other opposition into a three-corner fight if they pick “their territories”. Another spoiler opposition, Goh Meng Seng, reserved the MacPherson SMC.
