Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today officially declared that the PAP government will import more foreigners, so to increase the population from the current 5.7 million to 6.9 million:
“An update on Singapore’s population outlook was provided in Parliament in March 2018. At that update, the Government said that given recent trends, Singapore’s total population is likely to be significantly below 6.9 million.”
As of Sep 2019, the PMO reported that Singapore imported 2.21 million foreigners, an increase of 2.3%, or around 70,000 in a single year. 22,000 more foreigners found jobs in Singapore in the 2018-2019 period. Due to the import of foreigners, the population was pushed up from 5.54 million in 2015 to 5.7 million in 2019.
The PMO today published a fake news claiming that there has been “statements circulating on various platforms for a 10 million population” recently.
No such statement is found in any platform. This is the second fake news from the government in this election, after PAP MP Murali Pillai lied about “a video circulating attacking my family”. No such video is found.
Nonetheless, the PMO threatened to take actions against any criticisms of the government:
“Appropriate action may be taken against any such further publication.”
