Singapore’s North-East Line has been hit by a massive train breakdown that sees 7 stations between Hougang and Farrer Park paralysed this morning around 8am. Power was shut down which saw blackout in the stations and some commuters commented on Facebook that there was no air ventilation as well.

SBS Transit claimed that train services was back to normal half an hour later at 8.26am but train stations remained overcrowded and train frequency was slow. The most recent breakdown on the North-East Line was only a month ago on Sep 8.

SBS Transit has also applied to increase public transport fare earlier despite netting in S$6.09 million profit in the recent quarter. The privately-listed corporation has also been recently rewarded S$816,000 for service improvement.
