Former Singapore National Coach of 10 years, Radojko Avramovic, has been fired from the Myanmar national team just three months into his supposedly 17-month contract.

65 year old Avramovic, a Serbian, served as Singapore’s national coach between 2003 and 2012. However his performance in Singapore has been lacklustre and never once brought Singapore to qualify for World Cup.

It appears Myanmar have a much lower tolerance of incompetence than Singapore which kept Avramovic for 10 years. His only achievement in the 10 years of coaching in Singapore was only winning 3 tournaments: the ASEAN Championship in 2004, 2007 and 2012. Under Avramovic, Myanmar lost 3 matches, won 1 and drawn 1 in the World Cup Asian qualifier. The biggest defeat was a thrashing by Kuwait 9-0.

After Avramovic’s departure, a new foreign coach Bernd Stange was engaged for the national coach portfolio. No Singaporean is deemed suitable for the job by the Football Association of Singapore despite the 13 years.
