A Singaporean got a shock when he found the Primary 4 Chinese textbook using “Yuan” instead of dollar for currency. Mr Wong, 70, was giving his 10-year-old grandson tuition when he spotted the text.

In the textbook, 15 Yuan(元) was used instead of 15 dollars(块) and has since fueled anger among local Singaporeans against the China-fied of Singapore. Singapore Chinese may be descendants from China but China Chinese has a different culture, language and social norm from Singaporean Chinese. More accurately, Singapore Chinese share the most common Hokkien dialect with Taiwanese, who also do not identify themselves as China Chinese.

Currently the Singapore government is importing Chinese Chinese to shore up it’s racist government policy where a 75% Chinese majority must be upheld as fewer Singaporean Chinese are giving births.
