After being fired by the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) and dropped out of the national team, Singapore table tennis player Feng Tian Wei beat China’s number 1 player, Ding Ning, yesterday (Dec 6) in a league match.
Representing her club, Ordos 1980, Feng Tian Wei beat Ding Ning, from Beijing Shougang, 12-10, 13-15, 2-11, 11-7, 7-5 in the China Super League.
30-year-old Feng Tian Wei currently ranks world’s number 6th and trains in China instead of Singapore. The Singaporean new citizen did not win a single medal in the recent Rio Olympics and was dropped by the government after she voiced dissent against the management of the STTA headed by former PAP MP Ellen Lee.
