Train services between Joo Koon station and Boon Lay interchange station were disrupted for more than 20 minutes from 7.11pm during the peak hour period yesterday (Dec 6). Public transport operator SMRT this time blame the disruption due to a signalling fault but did not reveal further details.

It is unknown if this fault is related to the signalling fault that happened last month on the Circle Line. SMRT was initially unable to resolve the fault and the Circle Line was down intermittently for nearly a week. The public transport operator tried all means and even shut down mobile services citing interference from a “mysterious” signal. SMRT in the end had to consult the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) to resolve the issue. The latter investigated and found that a faulty signal transmitter was responsible for the signalling fault, and the signalling system was restored back to normal.
