A 33-year-old China national working as a masseur at a massage parlour at People’s Park Complex was sentenced to 11 months’ jail and 3 strokes of the cane for molesting a 47-year-old Japanese woman during the massage session.
At around 10pm on 8 Jan 2015, Li Qing Dong, 33, and another certified masseur were assigned to massage a Japanese couple and the massage session took place in the same room on two adjacent beds set aside by a partition.
According to court hearing, the PRC national masseur touched the woman private part while massaging her inner thigh. The Japanese woman complained to her 66-year-old husband after the session, and made a police report after that.
The PRC masseur had prepared his intention to molest the woman by drawing the partition curtain such that the couples could not see other. However, Li Qing Dong disputed it despite having all three witnesses including the other masseur testifying that the partition curtain was indeed fully drawn. The PRC masseur is also insistent that he did not commit any molest.
The Singapore District Judge, Eddy Tham, concluded that the accused has been untruthful in his statements and sentenced him to 11 months’ jail and 3 strokes of the cane. The PRC masseur however is appealing his sentence and he is currently out on a S$20,000 bail.
