Singapore’s dictator Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong posted on Facebook about the poverty of foreign workers and their sacrifices to Singapore’s economy, and his supporters lost their minds. Reaching over 34,000 likes and 3,000 shares as of press time, his Facebook photo of a foreign worker using mobile phone under a tree attracted over 900 comments praising the Prime Minister as a “kind” man with “integrity”.

Mostly foreigners, commentators praised the Singapore Prime Minister and wrote on his page how much they respect him. The viral Facebook post is also featured in state media Straits Times as headline news, in similar fashion that of North Korea’s praising of their leader Kim Jong Il.

Unbeknown to most foreigners, Singapore remains an unequal society with an income inequality worse than all OECD nations except Chile. There is no Minimum Wage and the low-income, usually foreign workers and Singaporean elderly, earn as low as S$4 an hour.

The Prime Minister however did not address the corruption investigation in his town council, revealed on New Year Eve. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is also avoiding to comment on China’s detention of S$119 million of Terex vehicles. The dictator has recently re-written the country’s Constitution to prevent non-PAP-endorsed candidates from contesting the Presidential Election.
