After a heavy downpour on Sunday, Singapore today (Jan 23) saw multiple flooding island-wide. According to the authorities, Tanjong Pagar, Bishan, Yio Chu Kang, Tiong Bahru, Maxwell Road, Marine Parade and West Coast are seeing flash flood. Heavy traffic jam are expected and the public has been advised to avoid areas with flash flood.
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) wrote in a tweet this morning at 9.47am warning of flash flood at the junction of Craig Road and Tanjong Pagar Road, and Maxwell Road (South Bridge Road). PUB also warned that the water level at a canal on Prince Philip Avenue near Redhill MRT – Alexandra Canal Sub Drain B – is at 100 per cent. At 11am, the PUB tweeted that the Sungei Tongkang canal at Yio Chu Kang Road and Sungei Kallang (Bishan Road) saw water level rose above 90 per cent.
The Meteorological Services Singapore reported that there will be heavy rainfall island-wide until the end of January.
