According to Singapore’s Foreign Ministry, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying wrote a response letter to Lee Hsien Loong that they will return the detained Terrex vehicles. However, no date was promised. Hong Kong however added that the Singapore government might be liable for criminal prosecution.
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
“On January 24, 2017, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Leung Chun-ying replied to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s earlier letter to inform him that the Hong Kong authorities have completed their investigations, and will be releasing the SAF Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles and other equipment to the Singapore Government through the carrier.”

The Singapore Armed Force vehicles were detained on November 23 as a response by China reminding Singapore to uphold the One-China policy and stop military training with Taiwan.
The “good news” however did not see any update from China’s Foreign Ministry. It is also not known if the outgoing Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying’s words would be honoured as China did not give the nod.
