In less than 2 minutes, Minister of State Chan Chun Sing addressed Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob as “Mdm President” twice today (Feb 6). The ruling party PAP-dominated Parliament broke out in laughter twice, suggesting that a legalised corruption is in place to install Halimah Yacob as the next President.
Speaking in Singlish, the former army general poised to be the next Prime Minister repeated the same misake again towards the end of the video. More surprisingly, Speaker Halimah Yacob did not correct the Minister on both occasions.
New election rules have been legalised and the country’s Constitution was re-written by the ruling party without any debate. Legalised corruption is now more brazen given the diminishing support for the ruling party which is finding it harder to win legally in a fair electoral contest.
