A massive train service disruption today (Oct 3) affected all stations along the North-East Line. According to operator SBS Transit at 1.14pm today, a train stalled at the city-bound tunnel near Sengkang station and caused over 30 minutes of delay for commuters.
Like SMRT, SBS Transit under-reported the delay, claiming that the delay will take only 15 minutes. Several reports of 15 minutes delay were sent but normal train service resumed only an hour later at 2.19pm. There was also no train service between Punggol and Buangkok at 2pm as the stalled train was pushed out of the line.
The news came a day after Transport Minister Ng Chee Meng blamed the former PAP administration of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for train faults at Bukit Panjang LRT. On Monday, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said a fare hike will be coming by year end.
