Singapore’s Land Transport Authority is currently conducting a six-month experiment over its latest method to collect public transport fares. A new wearable wristband will act as an Ez-link card and payment can be made by tapping on the Ez-link card reader in the same manner.
Again like an Ez-link card, the wristband, called the SG50 Smartbands, can also be used to make payment for restaurants and retail outlets. The government-controlled media Channel News Asia featured the wristband putting it up as a headline when its technology is basically a replica of the Ez-link card.
