A PRC couple was sentenced to 5 weeks jail yesterday (Sep 9) for criminal trespassing and committing a rash act on August 24. Sales assistant Yang Xuemei, 28, and mechanic, Bao Weilong, 29, was at the Ministry of Manpower Service Centre along Bendemeer Road to demand a S$6,000 refund which they paid an China-based employment agent prior to coming to Singapore.
The MOM customer service officer rejected their demand and the two then walked out in front of the MOM Service Centre to kneel in the middle of Bendemeer Road. The two protested holding up a sheet of A4 size paper with their demands on it, and refused to get up despite attempts by passer-bys and even the police to get them off the busy traffic.
The duo plead guilty yesterday and is now serving their 5 weeks jail.
