A faulty escalator in 321 Clementi Mall caused panic to commuters when parts of the yellow warning strip chipped off at its descending section.
The incident happened on at 7pm evening on Tuesday (Sep 8) and the post was uploaded to Stomp Straits Times by Pamela and followed up with a phone interview:
“I was at 321 Clementi mall outside the Beesket waiting for my daughter, when I suddenly heard a breaking sound. An escalator going downwards suddenly stopped with yellow metal pieces flying out. Everyone quickly ran up and it was quite scary. Shoppers who didn’t see what happened are now walking down the escalator normally.”
Commuters are especially wary about travelling on escalators because of an incident in China where a mother was killed instantly after stepping onto an unsecured service manhole of an escalator in a China mall.
