Five unlicensed workers were each issued with a warning letter today (Sep 15) for polluting Changi Airport Terminal 3’s water supply on Jan 29 this year. Their employer, Sam Lain Equipment Services Pte Ltd, was a contractor carrying out water diversion operations for the national water agency PUB and it was fined S$9,000.
As the five workers did not follow PUB’s procedures during the water diversion operation, the water become tainted and light brown water were coming out from the taps of the cafes and restaurants in Terminal 3 around 3pm on that day.
This prompted a shutdown of the water supply and the water tank and pipes had to be cleaned for the day. Water supply resumed only on the following day.
