Despite drawing only a-third of a PAP minister salaries, Ireland Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, a former doctor, has volunteered to go back to practice and assist hospitals once a week.
This is unfortunately not the case for Singapore.
In response to the shortage of medical practitioners, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong has called for retired and former doctors to return to practice. However, none of the PAP MPs and ministers heed the call to assist in the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak, and yet they expect others to do the same?
PAP MP Dr Janil Puthucheary, PAP MP Dr Lim Wee Kiak, PAP MP Dr Lam Pin Min, PAP MP Dr Chia Shi Lu, son-of-Punggol-and-Ang Mo Kio Dr Koh Poh Koon Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan were all medical doctors. Why aren’t they serving the nation by returning to practice? Is the “Dr.” title only for show?
Some, like Dr Janil Puthucheary, has no excuse – the new citizen has never served National Service and the fat lazy bum is instead sitting at home isolating himself collecting his S$16,000/hr MP salaries.
Then there is the “son of Punggol and Ang Mo Kio” Dr Koh Poh Koon. Where is this son while Punggol and Ang Mo Kio residents are getting infected?

Even if you are not a doctor, shouldn’t these PAP MPs and ministers volunteer their free time in hospitals instead of going on political walkabouts? Surely they don’t work 7 days a week?
During elections, the PAP politicians exalted about their “sacrifices” entering politics. Some like Dr Vivian Balakrishnan spoke in Parliament about “high standards” and moral values when admonishing the Workers’ Party opposition. When the time calls for their service, these politicians dodge their duties and yet they have the cheek to ask for our votes during elections.
