A 30-minute-long train breakdown happened this morning (Feb 13) at Admiralty station on the North-South Line (NSL) at around 7.55am. The disruption caused serious overcrowding in stations along the NSL, with crowds squeezing each other at the waiting platform.

The overcrowding situation became dangerous with crowds filling the staircase and escalator in a photo taken by a commuter. It is not known whether if the escalator was still in operation when the platform level was filled.

Public transport operator SMRT sent out an announcement on Twitter at 7.58am, telling commuters to expect 20 minutes of additional time from Jurong East to Ang Mo Kio station. The fault was only cleared half an hour later at 8.30am .

Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan has gone into hiding for several months, refusing to comment on the failing state of public transport in Singapore. The irresponsible minister on a S$1.1 million paycheck is pushing public address to government agencies like Land Transport Authority, Public Transport Council and train operators SMRT and SBS Transit to manage queries on train breakdowns.
